Stage 1: Setup New Client Machine

Hardware Setup Procedures
System Software Setup Procedures
- Be sure Dell OEM diagnostic and configuration software is installed
in its own partition.
- Server Resource Configuration (IRQ's and base memory for Dialogic
cards, create custom .cfg file.)
- 8 port system with (2)D41H in Poweredge 2300: Board 1 (ISA5, DE000h,
8K IRQ11) Board 2 (ISA6, DC000h, 8K, IRQ11)
- 16 port system with (1)24-port board in Poweredge 2300: Board 1
(ISA6, xxxxxx, xxxxxx)
- Operating System - NT SBS 4.0a Setup
- Administrator account: administrator
- Password: current production password (see Scott or Matt if you're
unsure)
- Computer name: clientcode (obtain from
\\pokemon\private\TechServices\OnePlace
Project Tracking.xls)
- Domain name: clientcode1
- Do not install if possible: Exchange services, Fax Services,
Modem sharing.
- Install Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack
- Install FrontPage 98 Extensions
- Install IIS and the following components:
- FTP
- Internet Service Manager
- Internet Service Manager (HTML)
- SMTP Service
- WWW Server
- Select Script Debugger
- Unselect Site Server
- Select Windows Scripting Host
- Install Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 upgrade - See Matt or Scott for
CD.
- Install MDAC 2.0 SP2 (this install is separate from SBS) from
"custom CD".
- Install AUTOLOG.EXE (see Scott or Matt the first time).
- Rename the "My Computer" icon on the desktop to match the
Computer Name.
- Video resolution: (this should be the default) 800 x 600, 65536
colors, 60 hz refresh.
- Partition drives Using NT Disk Administrator:
- For (3) 4G SCSI non-RAID systems
- Physical Drive 0: Use partition magic boot floppy to expand C
partition to fill first physical drive (about 4 G) - keep drive letter C. Set Volume
Label = "System". This process takes up to an hour.
- Physical Drive 1: Single partition, format NTFS - set to drive
letter D, set volume ="Content".
- Physical Drive 2: Single partition, format NTFS - set to drive
letter E
- CD-Rom - set to drive letter F. Set volume label = "Backup"
- Establish the OnePlaceIVR folder on drive D.
- Create folder d:\OnePlaceIVR
- Create a share (right click the folder just created, select sharing).
Name the share the same as the folder name. Select permissions, remove
"Everyone", add "Administrators", Full Control.
- Remote Access - install Carbon Copy 32 Host Only,
package license/disks/CD with OEM PC software box.
- Dialogic drivers
- Install
- Run diagnostics to validate hardware settings.
- Use Dialogic Configuration Manager to setup service to autostart on
boot.
- Adjust Windows NT Services
- Use Control Panel/Services to adjust the following services to
"Manual" startup mode:
- Microsoft Winsock Proxy Service
- Microsoft Proxy Server Administration
- Windows Internet Name Service
- Modem Sharing Service
- Use Control Panel/Services to adjust the following services to
"Automatic" startup mode:
- MSSQLServer
- SQLExecutive
- Carbon Copy 32
- Use Control Panel/WSP Client to disable the Winsock Proxy client.
- Enable Password Protected Screen Saver (New 10/15/99)
- Enable the Blank screen saver to run in Password Protected
mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.
- Adjust Event Log Rollover (New
10/15/99)
- Setup network connectivity
- Assign TCP/IP address from next available in test pool range:
207.250.46.30 to 207.250.46.40
(It is recommended to make a note on paper of which ones are in use.)
- New 6/3/99 Email the DNS administrator [email protected]
of the Machine Name and IP address for entry into the DNS.
- Assign TCP/IP gateway to 207.250.46.100
- Assign DNS Address to found.e-net.com
- Remove WINS address
- In Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options, Connection Tab, and
disable "Access the Internet using a Proxy Server".
- Setup Carbon Copy Host
- Run Carbon Copy
- Disable "Allow connections" for default user.
- Create new Carbon copy user, name="ccUser",
password="marty".
- Enable "Allow connections" for ccUser.
- Enable ALL User Profile items for ccUser.
- Options/Security/Global Tab: Enable "Load Carbon Copy before the
Windows Login Prompt".
- Options/Security/Logins Tab: Enable "Require Logins"
- Options/Security/Encryption Tab: Enable "Require Data
Encryption"
- Click "Wait for call", select the Ethernet driver, enable
"Wait for call on startup"
- Options/Communications/Wait For Call Tab: Enable "Use The
Internet", remove all entries from "Internet Locator Servers"
- System Backup
- Install 'AT' backup schedule and obtain and label 4 DDS-3 tapes.
Package tapes with OEM PC software box.
Packaging/Identification setup
- Label all boxes with client name
- Print and attach "client welcome to One Place form", which
is to be determined.
Shipping Server to Client
- Poweredge 2300 Server Weight 75 lbs.
- 15" Monitor Weight 35 lbs.
- Backups 700 Weight 40 lbs.
- Remember to insure for full value
