Stage 5: Installing One Place IVR System at the Clients Site

  • When configuring internet access for One Place IVR systems in the field, the following PORTS need to have "pass-through" access between the internet and the IVR server. This configuration is usually done on a firewall/router at the client site and/or at their ISP.

  • If specific port/IP restrictions are available: The above ports need to be initiated/opened incoming from our class C's, and the requests are bi-directional. Our IP banks are 204.95.186.* and 208.49.50.*.
    The following also applies:
    • Web (HTTP port 80) is initiated from the public.
    • DNS and SMTP requests are initiated from the One Place server (which is usually allowed by default).
  • IMPORTANT!!! Telecommunications Manager must E-mail the DNS administrator [email protected] of the Machine Name and new IP address for modification in the DNS.  Do NOT setup LMHOSTS to resolve the name.   LMHOSTS is local to your workstation and no one else will be able to access the IVR server unless the name is added to the DNS.
  • Test ALL of the following items during installation:
    • Ping the IP address of the IVR server to test general connectivity.
    • Ping the Machine Name to test DNS lookup.
    • Test SMB from your workstation by clicking "Start", then "Run", then typing \\clientcode and press ENTER.  After a (sometimes 30-60 second) delay, you should get an authentication dialog box asking for your user name and password.  Use the user name "Administrator" and the administrator password.  You should then be able to browse the OnePlaceIVR folders on the IVR machine.   If these tests fail, then the "Big Script" will not be able to run.
    • Open Internet Explorer on your workstation and navigate to "http://clientcode".  Your should see the IVR report menu on the IVR machine.  If not, then the HTTP port (80) may not be open on the client's firewall.
    • Test Carbon Copy remote control session.
    • While in remote control, dial into one of the IVR channels (assuming at least one phone line is connected to a channel).  Make sure the IVR system answers with the greeting.  At the property code prompt, press the following touch tone sequence: *123698741 to bring up the diagnostic window.  Use this window to send an e-mail message to yourself to test DNS and SMTP functionality.
    • While in remote control, use the diagnostic window to test call-transfer to one of the office phones. 
    • While in remote control, test CallerID by having someone at the client's office dial into the IVR system.  You should see their complete CallerID information on the IVRcontrol panel display for the channel that answered the call.

    The above tests must be performed successfully before the basic machine installation is considered "complete" and "successful".   These tests must be followed by complete testing of the client's IVR software (including tests for e-mail, paging, call-transfer, and shipping with the big script)
